“We have always done an outstanding job of taking care of patients, which is exactly what our patients expect—access to the best care. But the best treatments are constantly changing and being upgraded. This is how we make incremental progress in attacking cancer. The University of Florida Shands Cancer Center is bolstering efforts to efficiently produce those breakthrough changes that advance the field and improve the state-of-the-art treatments.”– W. Stratford May, Jr., M.D., PhD., Director
Activities and programs at the UF Shands Cancer Center are acutely focused on the development of early-stage “translational” research aimed at the rapid translation of scientific discoveries to benefit patient care through active clinical trials. To learn more about clinical trials, click here.
To enhance the translation of basic laboratory findings to novel curative and preventive therapies for specific cancers, the UF Shands Cancer Center’s research program is organized into three divisions—basic research, clinical and translational research, and cancer control and population sciences.
